When I made this to test out Grandma’s recipe, Meghan called this “the best of both worlds” because you get the delicious pie crust as well as the delicious crisp topping.

Pie Ingredients
- 1 uncooked pastry shell
- 1 tbsp flour
- 4-5 cups apples, peeled and thinly sliced (I used granny smith)
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
Topping Ingredients
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1/3 cup Earth Balance
Yield:
Preheat oven to 350o
Sprinkle 1 tbsp flour over the bottom of the pie shell. Prepare the apples. Combine the cornstarch, sugar and spices then sprinkle over the apples. Set aside.
Combine oats, brown sugar and flour. Cut in Earth balance until crumbly. Place apples in pie shell. Sprinkle topping over apples and press gently. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until done.
